With 3 trips to Spain behind us in the Huelva region it was time to explore another area.
Having met Andres Mora and Peli Torres, Costa Blanca Nordic Walking at a competition in Santa Ana in the Sierra de Aracena March 2017, they invited Nordic Walking Fit to come to Alicante and and explore their beautiful area.
So January 2018 I went over and the 3 of us worked together and we put an excellent trip together for our group in October.
What a holiday we had!! We first stayed for 4 nights on the coast, Santa Polla and the hotel was literally on the beach it couldn’t have been more ideal.
Then the last 3 nights we stayed in Elche the 3rd largest city in the Alicante region, so clean and modern and walking distance to a very vibrant city.
Our walks were all really diverse from wetlands, to coastal, to the foot of the mountain range that back drops the area.
Our host Peli and Andres were brilliant and we also had their Nordic walkers join us on a days outing to Font Roja just south of Valencia.
There were 32 of us in total, 15 English and 17 Spanish and what fun to be able to share our passion for Nordic walking with like minded people.
Even though we did have a slight problem with language but in the end lots of laughter which is universal.
A few of us even joined in their regular evening walks in a beautiful park that has a canal running through and a park filled with Palm trees.
We Nordic walked for 4 miles and half way Peli gets the music blasting and we all do a series of exercises to get that heart rate going. What a blast and wow did we get warm.
All in all the weather was perfect and the holiday was exceptional, would we go back again??? Most definitely!!! #NordicWalkingFitSpanishHoliday
